Each year our Foundation supports the provision of over £2m in Awards and Scholarships to parents. This often enables parents to send their child to our School when, without financial support, they may not be able to. The majority of this money goes to local parents. We also provide all the heating fuel oil for Little Ouseburn Church. We have done this for years as our way of ensuring the local church, which is part of our local community, can stay open.
In addition every year our Foundation supports the cost of providing a comprehensive winter flu vaccination programme. We cover the whole cost of providing flue vaccinations, not only to all our pupils, their parents, their relatives etc, to all our staff and their families, BUT ALSO to anyone who lives within a 5 mile radius of us who wants a vaccination. This programme costs many thousands of pounds per year to run.
Further, each year we provide numerous small donations to local people and local organisations. For example we have provided a local bench seat, a local notice board and paid for a local lad (nothing to do with our school or connected with us in anyway) to go on a "World Challenge" expedition. We have bought vital fire fighting equipment for the local fire brigade. We have provided the use of our equipment to local people when they needed it. We sent a team of our staff down to the local Post Office to help them clean up the damage caused by someone locally throwing paint all over the place.
