We believe our men and women in the British Armed Forces are people to admire and support. Our research suggests that around 1800 children of British Forces are boarders in independent education. Such children thus receive a consistent education and life as their parents go off to fight on the front line. Our separate Charitable Foundation supports this concept by ensuring our boarding fees are reduced by 20% for Forces children. This 20% reduction in fees is twice that normally offered by other independent schools . We do this because we think it is the right thing to do. We have invested in sophisticated communications equipment that means, in conjunction with the cooperation given us by the Armed Forces, our boarding children are capable of talking with their parents fighting in places such as Afghanistan, Iraq or the like around the world when their parents are injured. As a result of this, and other initiatives by the College to do with security and ability to cope in emergencies, we have over 180 boarders whose parents are part of the British Armed Forces. Thus our College looks after 1 in 10 of all Forces children boarding in independent education. All our growth in the numbers of Forces children has come about by "word of mouth" as Forces parents recommend us to Forces friends.
