Benedict house or Abbey Chambers is home, and we go to great lengths to make it as homely as possible. For example, pupils may, within reason, bring their small pets such as a rabbit, gerbil, hamster or goldfish, to school.
The freedom to go out at weekends is an important part of life. Saturday morning shopping in Harrogate or York is always popular. On Sundays all manner of places can be visited: theme parks, historic sites, exhibition centres, ice rinks, tourist attractions, cinemas, theatres, concert halls. Suffice it to say the list is endless.
The
number of pupils to a room varies - normally from four to two
and eventually one, dependent on age and the number of pupils
we have. Every bedroom is provided with a direct dial-in-and-out
telephone and voice mail, timer controlled TV/video, tea and coffee
making facilities, fridge, radio/tape/CD music centre, a hair
dryer, ironing facilities, powered ventilation, wash hand basin,
heated towel rail and fan. The provision of showers and toilets
is in the ratio of approximately one for every six pupils. Many
rooms in Benedict house are en-suite.
Our first-class medical centre has its own private bathroom, comfortable beds and cheerful decor.
