The specialist Day Pupils' Centre is housed within Abbey Chambers
with direct access from outside. All Q.E. day pupils use the Centre
as a base from arrival until leaving. Overnight accommodation is
available in case of parental business trips, bad weather etc. and
facilities are of the highest standard.
The Centre includes lockers, payphones and cloakroom. The common
room has a 20-channel TV/video and comfortable seating while the
work area is well equipped with multimedia Pentium computers. There
is a space for day pupils who are joining an evening trip or outing
to change, shower, wash and dry their hair. The kitchen includes
an oven, microwave, hobs, refrigerator and dishwasher as well as
crockery and cutlery.
Adjacent
to the centre is a fitness room, slot machine for drinks, sweets,
stamps etc., and a video library. A fleet of minibuses serving the
surrounding area is fully equipped with seat belts.
Many of those pupils travelling from York and Harrogate use the
train to Cattal station rather than travel on busy main roads. The
large contingent of pupils from York find the 20-minute journey
to school as easy as going to one in the city but with the added
attractions of a rural setting and 100-acre site.
The Day Pupils Centre includes a pick up/set down point for pupils
being brought by car and facilities are provided for parents to
wait at the end of the school day. |
