The Kindergarten is purpose-built and includes separate baby and toddler areas, a kitchen and washing facilities. Babies and toddlers from 3 months to 3 years are cared for conscientiously and safely within a warm, friendly environment.
Pre-school skills prepare the children for moving into the pre-preparator department of Chapter House. Most children transfer at 3 years, but it is possible to delay entry if the child is not quite ready. Children develop at different rates, so are treated as individuals. Through active, participating play we encourage language, social and physical development.
The Kindergarten is open all year round, including school holidays, from 7.45am to 6.15pm - longer hours than most Nurseries - to cater for family needs. Children in Chapter House may also stay at school until 6pm and from 7.45am to 6pm during the holidays if they are aged 8 and under, if there is sufficient demand to make it viable. The manageress of the Kindergarten is a qualified NNEB teacher with responsibility for all children up to the age of 4, so that there is a smooth transition from the Kindergarten to the pre-preparatory department of Chapter House and beyond.
