The intention is to provide a broad and balanced study of photography, which emphasises the inter-relationship between aesthetics, theory and the practice of photography. Students will be encouraged to appreciate the attributes of photography as a form of artistic expression and as a medium of communication and social documentation. During the course various Photographic Assignments will be set which will test the students ability to apply photography in an imaginative and creative manner, by producing a number of photographs responding to an idea or theme. Anyone taking this course must have the use of their own 35mm single lens reflex camera and also be prepared to contribute towards the cost of the photographic consumables which they use: film and photographic paper. These are available in the school shop. The AS and A2 level contains three components and all candidates must submit work for each.
