Religious Studies is a compulsory element of any school's curriculum and lessons at QE are attended by all students, unless a request has been made by parents, on religious grounds, for their son or daughter to opt out. All students have two lessons each week, prep is set and an examination is taken twice a year. Angel

The aim of the Religious Studies Department is to offer a comprehensive study of the Christian Religion. The life and work of Jesus of Nazareth is studied, as if one is investigating an unusual character and looking for clues and evidence that might suggest that this man Jesus was the Messiah, the Son of God. This study includes the importance and meaning of the major Christian festivals and looks also at the life of the earliest Christians.

During the second year pupils take a closer look at the nature of worship and the meaning of being a Christian in the 21st Century. Rites of passage are studied, the liturgical year and a comparison is made between beliefs and practices of different Christian denominations.

During the third year pupils use a book called, 'Christian Life, Personal and Social Issues'. This provides an evaluation of how people live out their Christian Faith in the world today
