Everyone who has a horse or pony liveried at the Royal Court Equestrian Centre including; paid for livery, adopt-a-horse and under the terms of a free livery Award, must be a current paid up member of the Royal Court Equestrian Centre. The membership fee for Sept 2007/8 is £580 per term for UK based students or £665 per term for international students.
The Plus and the Minus
When parents accept a Riding Option / Scholarship it costs the College / Charitable Foundation several thousands of pounds per year to fund it. It costs almost half a million pounds a year to provide, run, maintain and staff the Equestrian Centre. As we pay this, parents must accept, therefore, that they pay for obligatory extra costs such as Membership Fee or; Appendix C options, transportation, outside box, additional feed or bedding etc, - detailed within these webpages. Please make yourself aware of what the charges are. A financial award by the College / Charitable Foundation is based upon the acceptance of the charges. Non-payment of the due charges will result in withdrawal of any remission, repayment of all remissions granted and exclusion of the horse / pony and ultimately the pupil.
Please Note: Obligatory Completion of Appendix C
Pupils receiving free 6th Form BHSAI tuition and free Blue livery need only choose one from Section A and complete Section C. Other pupils in receipt of a Riding Option Award (eg Free Blue Livery) or paid for Purple, Blue, Green and Red livery are obliged to pick one choice from Section A, one choice from Section B and also complete Section C. Parents and students on "Adopt a horse", paid for Yellow livery, or anyone else need only choose one from Section B and complete Section C. Please read notes at the bottom of Appendix C. Parents failing to complete Appendix C will be billed based on Sole Use, Standard Riding Lessons and Guaranteed External Box. Charges for above are required to be paid termly in advance.
You will need to open an Equestrian & Show Account
Students wishing to partake in evening and weekend equestrian shows may do so with their parent's consent and if so, are asked to tick the appropriate box on Appendix A. A list of events taking place during the term is normally sent to you at the beginning of each term or is posted up on the notice board in the Equestrian Centre. We have two horse trailers which can take four horses each. A student taking part in an event would pay for the horse transportation which includes transportation for themselves. If students prefer to spectate, they will obviously pay the personal charge according to the mileage. Parents are asked to deposit a cheque with the Bursar at the beginning of each term, for an estimated £250-£350, and the cost of the events or any other supplementary charges will be deducted from this account. A breakdown of the charges can be obtained at any time from the Bursar on request. The account must always be kept in credit. This system ensures that we have your consent for your child to compete, gives you more control over their expenditure, and allows us to enter them for shows 2-3 weeks in advance (which is necessary for some disciplines). You will be notified if funds are running Iow.
No student can attend a show/event, or incur supplementary charges unless they have an "Equestrian & Show Account" which is kept in credit with the Bursar. No equestrian supplementary charges can go onto the general School Fees Account. Failure to open and maintain your Show Account in credit will invalidate any Riding Option Award.
