BOARDING TELEPHONES & COMMUNICATING
Page 1 2 3

Should you wish to telephone your son or daughter in the boarding house or they they wish to telephone you there are a number of methods which can be used:

Every boarding bedroom has a payphone which can make and receive calls. Your child will be able to tell you his/her telephone number. You can ring in direct to their bedroom. If they are not there you can leave a message in the room voice mailbox. [Note (a) only payphones in staff offices may dial out international due to abuse of the phone system by some pupils, (b) at the time we would expect a boarder to be in bed the payphone in their bedroom will cease to function and all incoming calls will be automatically redirected to their voice mail box -this avoids phones ringing after lights out. There are still several payphones accessible to your child for emergencies when this function is activated.]

Parents may ring a Main Boarding House number which is
0870 742 3400 for Abbey Chambers and
0870 742 3500
for Benedict House.

This will connect you with a member of staff who can then help you with any query or help to find your child. If you are unsure what your child's direct dial telephone number is, or they have moved rooms, a member of staff should be able to tell you the correct telephone number. Parents are please asked not to make calls after 10.00 PM British time. There are also a number of payphones for local and national calls available around all over the campus which pupils may use. International ability payphones are available in the Refectory and in all staff boarding house offices which they may also use.
