This option is available to those students who are already studying the language. Spanish is now an extremely useful language to know, not only for tourism, but also in the world of work. It is not only spoken in Spain but also in Latin America. The department is well resourced having satellite TV, a languages library, foreign videos and a language laboratory. We are also fortunate to have our own Spanish language assistant who takes the students individually or in small groups to prepare them for their oral examination.

Students are tested in the four skill areas of listening, reading, writing (in the form of coursework) and speaking. Although our style is very much communicative, in the target language, we also study grammar in depth in order to enable our students to achieve success at the higher grade of GCSE.
