ExerciseThe course work element of the assessment in GCSE Physical Education accounts for 60% of the total marks whilst the final examination (2hr written paper) gives 40%.
  Course work: Assessment is on the candidate's performance in four activities taken from the National Curriculum groups. The chosen activities must be taken from at least three different groups. These groups are:- Games: Netball, Football, Hockey, Tennis, Cricket, Volleyball Rugby and Badminton. Swimming: including timed swims, personal survival and life saving. Athletics Activities: including Track & Field & Cross Country Running. Dance: various styles. Gymnastics: including Floor Exercises, Vaulting and Trampolining. Outdoor and Adventure Activities: Horse Riding, Orienteering, Hill Walking & Camping.
  It is also possible to include some activities that may be pursued outside school e.g. Figure Skating, Sailing, Canoeing or Rock Climbing. Assessment is based on individual performance and on the ability to analyse and improve the performance both of oneself and others. Candidates are expected to attend practices in their chosen activities and to learn how to officiate.
  Theory: Theory is made up of three units and they relate closely to the practical work undertaken. The 3 units are:- a) Factors affecting performance. b) Reasons & opportunities for doing physical activities. c) Health and safety training. OCR Syllabus 1680
