This option is available to those students who are already studying the language. German is a very useful language in the business world and students will be equipped to use the language in their place of work, taking it to A level and beyond if desired. The department is well resourced, having satellite TV, and a language laboratory. We are also fortunate to have our own German language assistant who takes the students individually or in small groups to prepare them for their oral examination.

Students are tested in the four skill areas of listening, reading, writing (in the form of coursework) and speaking. Although our style is very much communicative, in the target language, we also study grammar in depth in order to enable our students to achieve success at the higher grades of GCSE.

Extra help sessions are always available for those who join us late or simply for those who love the language. Students in the languages department work hard but have fun! Come and see for yourself. AQA 1216
