The globeThis syllabus is essentially place specific. It provides the opportunity to address geography at regional, national and global scales. Geographical studies include such prescribed areas as The United Kingdom, the M4 corridor, the European Union, the Ganges Delta and many more.

As international links become closer, easier and faster, we need more than ever to understand the geography of the world. To help protect the environment we need to understand geographical influences, and the geographical relationships linking people and their surroundings. To make the most of our multicultural society we need to understand and appreciate the culture and backgrounds of people from all over the world.

The course is thematic but within a regional context, looking at interesting topics from the plight of the Amazon rainforests to the industrial might of Japan. 25% of the marks are for a fieldwork report on the Central Business District in York.
