In
Double Award Science you will study all three Sciences: Biology,
Chemistry and Physics. At the
end of the course you will achieve two GCSEs, both with the same
grade.In Biology you will study the working of the human body, Plants, Variation, Genetics and Evolution as well as the interaction between living things and their environment. Chemistry is the study of materials and the reactions between the different chemicals. In particular, the useful products which can be obtained from Oil, Rocks and Air, alongside a brief study of Earth Science. Physics is the study of Energy and Forces. Energy comes in many different forms, among them Heat, Light and Sound. You will study how these ideas are used every day to make our life both comfortable and entertaining. We also look further afield to the solar system and the forces at work in Space. At the end of the UV year you will take three separate examinations. The marks obtained in each will be added together with the mark from the investigation, which is 25% of the final exam. The total mark obtained will decide the GCSE grade awarded. AQA Syllabus 1201 |
