| WHAT HELP WILL I RECEIVE WITH CAREERS ADVICE? |
|
All students continue to receive time-tabled Careers lessons throughout
their GCSE years. In the Lower Fifth year the emphasis is upon the possible
career choices of the students, thinking about how
work
patterns have changed over the years and how this might affect their future
multi-career lives. Students spend one week on work experience in the
Summer Term of LV. This is organised by a specialist consultants called
Trident, which is based mainly in the York area. The planning for this
includes job applications, going for interviews, safety in the work place
and suitable dress and behaviour for a place of work.
In the Upper Fifth year students will consider the options open to them at 16+. They are guided in this by their Careers teachers and with talks from the Independent Schools Careers Organisation, North Yorkshire Careers and Guidance, and outside visiting speakers. Students spend a second week on work experience at the end of the Spring Term, gaining insight into a possible career area. The well stocked Careers Library is available to all students during the week and at weekends during term time |
