I realise that living as a member of a Force's family is a pretty strange experience and not normally fully understood by those who do not have to do it. Civilians not involved with the Forces find it difficult to imagine a job where you can be moved at little or no notice, invalidated out on quite minor medical grounds or sent into a war zone with little or no means of contacting your family. Forces partners have to keep the family and home together for extended periods of time while husbands are on unaccompanied postings.
Having your children in a school where the Head fully appreciates Forces life can help tremendously. We have many Forces families, so your children will not feel isolated. My door is open and my telephone available for any Force's parent needing a sympathetic understanding of his or her situation. We underline this support by offering 20% discretionary boarding fee remission to Force's families. Together with the BSA, this makes us a very attractive option.
We are pleased to offer a discretionary remission for up to 20% of the boarding fees, rising to 27.5% for Years 12 and 13, for members of the British Armed Forces, accredited UK Government Foreign Office personnel and for Diplomats, Embassy Staff, and staff employed by the United Nations. This remission is also available for accredited members of the United Kingdom Security Service and specialised Government Security Units. A discretionary remission is available for up to 15% of the Boarding Fees for members of Foreign Armed Forces.
You can be assured that our teaching staff, and particularly our boarding staff, understand the emotioinal needs of our children. To be a boarding houseparent looking after children requires understanding, common sense, experience, patience and humour. Our staff are all carefully selected. Our staff have chosen their careers because the have passioin for and understanding of children. From bedtime stories to games; from the need for some common sense to some firm persuasion that a bedroom needs tidying up; for understanding when things are not going well: these help children settle and enjoy being boarders. Our children know that no other independant school gives them as many home comforts as we do.
